The Home:
Artisan crafted timberframe with strawbale infill, natural plasters using house site soil, and designed around reuse of architectural treasures, greywater greenhouse and composting toilets; this farm is totally off-the-grid with power drawn from both wind generator and solar, both heat and PV's. Picture a solar convection oven, wood boiler backup for the solar radiant floor, solar hot water, the list seems endless.
The Event:
Join AEA members, family and friends, for an expert guided tour on Saturday, 23rd April 2005 between 1PM and 4PM, to study this pioneering manse that was 12 years in the making. With the home just nearing completion, you'll get an excellent, up-close opportunity to see how self-contracting works.
Our tour guides include Randy Sizemore (Entropy Limited), winner of the Governor's Award CE99 who did the energy systems, John Burkindine who did the greywater greenhouse, and even the owner-contractor and a host of other contributors and craftsmen. A cool reunion to see the entity they all worked to create, one step at a time. COME ON OUT & MEET THE CREW!
