From 1978 thru 2000 AEA was a diverse group of people organized
around monthly meetings and events setup and run by a board of
directors called the Steering Committee. However, with these
changing times, computers, the Web, and peoples' busy schedules,
AEA in 2001 evolved to become a members-directed and run affair
with much less direction and planning from the Steering Committee.
The first method for accomplishing this was the establishment of the AEA website (www.AEA1.org), a place where AEA's "webmaster" Joe Davis posts upcoming and past events plus formal writings by group members. The latest is the setup of the AEA group email & Listserve message archive site by AEA co-chair Jeanette Raichyk (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AEA1) to permit members and participants to engage all other members directly in an almost daily stream of ideas, comments questions and announcements. While the website has been formed for a few years now and is updated from time to time, the group email & message site is in its infancy, having been initiated during the final days of 2000.
AEA is currently in a trial window with no membership dues, no fixed monthly meetings, and is trying to expand its membership to include more individuals, households and businesses who are doing (or planning to do), projects which use alternate energies and/or minimize energy consumption and the pollution thereby associated with it.
If you are already (or if you become) a member, you are welcome and encouraged to send your more formal writings and photos of any of your favorite and local alternate energy, efficiency and conservation projects to us via E-mail to AEA@AEA1.org. We are especially interested in recording for public view what is happening in SW Ohio, SE Indiana and Northern Kentucky.
With regards to the Listserve group email exchange service, have your name and email address added to the group list by sending an email stating a bit about yourself, your background and your request to our group moderator at AEA1@yahoogroups.com. You will receive a reply stating your inclusion by return email. After you are "in the list", you can use this method of communication to contact all AEA members simultaneously.
Because the message goes to ALL listed members, please use the group email for pertinent energy-related topics only or to introduce yourself to the group. Please do not use the group email for messages to specific individuals. For these individual messages, if you don't have that individual's email address, you can go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AEA1/members or click on "Members" at the homepage of the site to find the email address of the AEA member you want to reach.
We ask that you use this email service constructively and responsively, that you refrain from using it for advertising, and that you do not use or sell member information for commercial or political purposes which are clearly outside the non-profit, nonpolitical purpose and mission of AEA since its founding.
Thanks for your interest and support in AEA.
