This evolving campsite is off-the-grid with 1 KW of power from solar PV arrays and a Air 403 wind generator. Standalone system includes recently upgraded MPPT charge controller, batteries and inverter to operate lights, well pump, fans, tools, phone, battery charging, etc., for two cabins, restrooms and a recently remodeled, now well-insulated barn/meeting hall. Toilets are composting and showers are solar heated.

The camp is 5 miles north of Brookville on Highway 101, at the bottom of the hill just north of Garr Hill, but south of Mounds State Park.

The 1.25 mile gravel drive goes eastward off 101, through the white gates. Keep driving until you see the solar panels!

The Alternate Energy Association (AEA) was established in SW Ohio in 1978 to explore, evaluate and promote alternate energy solutions. AEA was premised on the idea that the energy choices we make as individuals and groups have great impact on our environment and our future. AEA offers discussion, meeting and demonstration opportunities for persons and groups interested in, learning about, implementing or using renewable energies, efficiency and conservation in their homes and workplaces.

To become a member of AEA, go to our homepage www.aea1.org, scroll down & click on "Join Us". Follow instructions to participate in our listserver. There is temporarily no charge to join us!

AEA is not a part of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES), Green Energy of Ohio (GEO) or any other sponsors of the national solar tour. AEA thanks ASES, GEO, all sponsors and site hosts for supporting events like this tour!
