AEA Meeting, July 31
Rain Water Collection at Tyler's
It stopped raining just in time for Tyler Anderson to show off his passive solar dog house and rain water collection at AEA's July 31, 2004 meeting at the Allison's house in the Cincinnati suburb of Burlington KY.
Attendees included Jeanette Raichyk, Stu Brinn, Roger Frisch, Joe Davis, John Robbins and Tyler's wife, Melissa.

Rain from the gutters and down spout is collected in these plastic 55 gallon drums. Tyler then uses the water for his extensive garden and flower beds.

Tyler also showed us his weather station and the bank of six used wet-cell batteries, each 2-volt, 540-Amp Hour, which he hoped would power his weather station when he switched over to solar PV power.
Tyler doesn't have his PV installed yet, but he showed off his breaker box, inverter and meter board which John thought looked familiar till Tyler pulled out a photo of John's power board that he used as a guide! Tyler and Jeanette discuss the dual garden watering tubs and the storage methods while the rest of us admired his garden. (Click picture to enlarge).

John Robbins also gave a report and slide show on his progress installing his home's solar water heating system which he plans to finish in time for the Solar Home Tour on October 2nd 2004.
Joe Davis offered a new fund raising idea (see Fundraising), which attendies voted to try. Everybody decided to ask AEA member Jerry Bargo (see scrapbook), if we could visit his house for our next meeting to see his solar-powered backyard garden fountain and hear about the other solar installations he's been doing.

Thanks to Tyler and his wife Melissa for their warm hospitality hosting this AEA meeting! Good time was had by all.
